The last volunteering event saw yet more preparations underway to support the refurbishments and renovations with old carpets coming out, part of the rotten decking stripped for replacement and wall paper stripping in what is to be the new shop. Thank you!
The renovation works are proceeding at pace with internal decoration of the bar areas and the front elevation, drainage connections for the new toilet facilities, the knock through to create the new shop/café, an overhaul of the heating system, a new log burner in what will affectionately be known as the snug and the new kitchen to name but a few.
All the volunteering effort is really helping with our preparations and making a big difference in stretching our funds. Hopefully we can rely on this continuing and we plan to hold one more event before Christmas on 1st December from 10.00 am. Tasks this time will be:
- Working on the decking
- More wall paper stripping - if you have a wall paper stripper or can lend one please bring it along and if we have some time a bit more stud walling.
What's more - Tom and Becci, our new tenants, plan to open the pub on Saturday 1st December for wet sales. So why not come along from 4.00 pm to have a look round and a drink. This is another chance to start to get to know Tom and Becci who want to meet as many shareholders and villagers as they can.
We have come a long way in the past few weeks since owning the pub at the beginning of October and to have the pub opening soon is the best news yet. And just to put the icing on the cake - Black Sheep have donated a barrel of beer so that the volunteers can have a well earned pint - orderly queue please!
Hope to see you on 1st.
